Mars Area graduate Jeanna Smialek (Class of 2009) is joining The New Your Times’ Washington (D.C.) Bureau as a Federal Reserve System (Fed) and economics correspondent.

For the last six years, Smialek served as an economics reporter at Bloomberg News in both Washington, D.C., and New York City. During her career she has written about jobs, the gross domestic product (GDP), the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and European Central Bank.
