Cadette Girl Scout Troop #28850 was selected to receive The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh’s Jon A. Douglas Philanthropy Award.

Last year, troop members made no-sew “court bags,” which they donated to The Children’s Institute to be given to foster children to help alleviate the stress of attending court hearings. The troop hosted a Service Unit event to collect donations of stuffed animals, fidget toys, coloring and sensory items, snacks and more to fill the bags.

Troop members include Mars Area Centennial School sixth-graders Elise Balazs, Grace Carnicelli, Jill Julian, Kaylen Ralph, Nina Szudera, Hannah Wolfe and Katherine Wyman.
